Privacy Policy

This page explains how unscrambletools.com handles information when you visit and use our word tools. For cookies and local storage details, see our Cookie Policy. For editorial standards, see our Editorial Policy.
1. Overview
unscrambletools.com ("Word Unscrambler") is a free word-game toolkit. This policy describes what information is collected when you visit and use the site. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
2. No account required
You do not need to create an account, register, or provide personal information to use any tool on this site. There is no login, no profile, and no server-side user database.
3. Search queries and URL parameters
When you use a tool, your input (letters, filters, tile colors, crossword patterns, etc.) is sent to our server to produce results. This data is processed in memory and is not stored in a user database or linked to any profile. Many tools encode your state in the page URL as query parameters (e.g. ?letters=react, ?rows=crane|xxyxx, ?pattern=A?P?E). These parameters appear in your browser address bar, browser history, and any link you share or bookmark. Anyone with that URL can see your search state. We do not log individual search queries beyond what standard server access logs may capture (see section 8).
4. Local storage and Recent Activity
With your consent (Functional Storage category), we save Recent Activity in your browser using localStorage — not cookies and not our servers. This may include unscrambler searches, anagram queries, pattern filters, Wordle board states, crossword searches, viewed word pages, and recent tool visits. • Client-side only — data never leaves your device through this feature • No identifiers — nothing is linked to an account, email, or fingerprint • Retention — 365 days from last activity (rolling), 730 day hard maximum • Controls — disable, clear all, remove individual items, or export JSON from Recent Activity If you decline Functional Storage, no history is written. See our Cookie Policy for full details.
5. Privacy choices
A consent banner on first visit lets you accept, reject, or customize optional categories: • Essential — stores your privacy choice locally (always enabled) • Functional Storage — Recent Activity in localStorage • Analytics — Google Analytics (GA4) • Advertising — personalized vs non-personalized ad delivery Your choice is saved locally and can be changed anytime via Cookie Preferences in the footer. Google Consent Mode v2 is used so Google tags respect your choices. Google Analytics loads only after Analytics consent. The Google AdSense loader script is included in every page for verification and ad readiness; ad personalization follows your Advertising choice (non-personalized by default).
6. Cookies and analytics
Google Analytics (measurement ID G-FJW3L8WPXJ) is fully consent-gated. If you accept Analytics, we load GA4 to understand aggregate site usage. If you decline, no GA scripts load and no analytics requests are made. We implement Google Consent Mode v2. Before you choose, analytics_storage is denied. After you grant Analytics consent, we update consent signals so GA can operate normally. Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
7. Advertising
Google AdSense is integrated for ad monetization and publisher verification. Script loading: The AdSense loader (adsbygoogle.js) is present in page HTML without waiting for consent so Google can verify the integration and prepare ad delivery. Ad personalization: Controlled by your Advertising consent choice and Google Consent Mode v2 (ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization). • Before consent or if declined — non-personalized ads mode (requestNonPersonalizedAds = 1) • If Advertising consent granted — personalized ads enabled (requestNonPersonalizedAds = 0) Display ad units may be disabled in our deployment configuration. See: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
8. Server logs
Our hosting provider (Vercel) may collect standard web server access logs including IP address, browser type, referring page, requested URL (including query parameters), and request timestamp. These logs are used for security, uptime monitoring, and debugging. They are not used to build individual user profiles and are retained for a limited period consistent with our hosting provider's practices.
9. Third-party services
This site may use the following third-party services: • Google AdSense — ad loader always present; personalization consent-gated • Google Analytics — aggregate measurement (Analytics consent required) • Google Fonts — typography loaded from Google servers • Vercel — hosting and serverless compute Each service operates under its own privacy policy.
10. Children's privacy
This site is a general-purpose word utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact support@unscrambletools.com and we will promptly address it.
11. Data security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect site operation. Recent Activity stays on your device. Server-side processing does not retain search queries in a database. No internet transmission is perfectly secure.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
